Value-Driven Healthcare Utah
Mission
The Utah Partnership for Value-driven Health Care (UPV) is a community collaborative comprised of stakeholders representing health care purchasers, payers, providers and the public. UPV seeks to advance higher value health care in our community, through shared strategies that address transparency, variation in cost and quality, and community approaches to delivery system improvement.
Community Role
The Utah Partnership for Value-driven Health Care (UPV) operates under a collaborative, member-driven process. Partners come to the table to identify needed changes to the healthcare system. The work of the UPV is accomplished through member-led workgroups related to topics and initiatives identified by the collaborative.
Currently, UPV has three workgroups:
The Reporting Task Force (RTF): The RTF guides data-driven efforts to advance transparency in our community.
The Medical Home Standards Workgroup: This workgroup is creating a shared definition for, and standard measure set associated with, medical home
The Medical Home HIE Workgroup: This workgroup is focused on leveraging the HIE to coordinate patients across care settings and payor types.

National Initiative: Chartered Value Exchanges
The Utah Partnership for Value-driven Health Care (UPV) was one of the first 14 Chartered Value Exchanges formed in 2008 under U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt. Chartered Value Exchanges were designed to drive local progress toward greater transparency and value in health care by leveraging the collective expertise and will of disparate stakeholders. UPV is also a regional health improvement collaborative and works closely with our partners in other states, including the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement.
