Setting Targets - Achieving Results (STAR)

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) to work with nursing homes to set targets on four quality measures: physical restraints, high-risk pressure ulcers, depression, and chronic pain. As the QIO for Nevada and Utah, HealthInsight will be working with nursing homes in both states to select and submit targets using the Setting Targets – Achieving Results (STAR) web-based tool available at www.nhqi-star.org. An important part of the target-setting process includes an internal staff discussion with facility leadership, the interdisciplinary team, and the quality improvement team about past performance and future goals.
