HOME HealthInsight Quality Award ► Nursing Home Selection Criteria

Nursing Home Selection Criteria

2006 Nursing Home HealthInsight Quality Award Criteria

Using the publicly reported data that appears on www.medicare.gov, four measures were selected that are the focus of Medicare’s quality improvement agenda over the next three years. The measures are:

  • Percent of residents who have moderate to severe pain
  • Percent of high-risk residents who have pressure sores
  • Percent of residents who were physically restrained
  • Percent of residents who are more depressed or anxious

Nursing homes that had data on at least three of the four measures between April 2005 – March 2006 were ranked against their peers nationally. The nursing homes that ranked in the top performing 25 percent and have no “G” level or higher deficiency or substandard quality of care determination during the 2005-2006 state survey are receiving an award.
