Choosing Quality Health Care
Quality measure information is one indicator of care to consider when choosing a nursing home for yourself or a loved one. Use information from other consumer resources as well. A variety of information can also help you define quality for yourself according to what is most important to you.

When visiting a nursing home, take a “guide” or checklist, it will prompt you to ask pertinent questions that will help you choose quality health care. You can make quality health care choices by becoming an informed consumer.

We have provided some website links with information to help consumers choose quality nursing home care:

They perform periodic on-site inspections of Utah Medicare-certified nursing home providers to ensure compliance with federal and state health, treatment and safety standards. They also investigate complaints from the public about poor care or unsafe conditions in certified facilities or providers. From this site you can access a list of nursing homes and individual facility information, including reports from the Bureau’s on-site inspections.
